Critical thinking and media literacy

Critical thinking is the ability to analyze information objectively to make a reasoned judgment. To do this, we must take certain points into account. We need to consider where the information comes from and, especially today, we must verify if the information is real. This means analyzing arguments and drawing conclusions based on reason

Media literacy is the fusion of communication media with new technologies. Essentially, if we live in a digital age, media literacy is the key.

These tools allow people to understand the functions of modern information media. To gain a deeper understanding of media literacy, it's important to consider three key aspects:

  • Understanding how information is produced.

  • Identifying and understanding the codes that make up a message.

  • Interpreting information.

In this sense, media literacy aims to transform information into learning methods. It can be defined as a collection of content, knowledge, and skills that a person uses in a structured way for a specific purpose.

A major goal of media literacy is to shape the culture of social interaction using technological media. Ultimately, we can say that media literacy makes our digital lives much more manageable and enjoyable.
